Introduction
Why we buy Vango…
We have often been asked this question over the years, but never before have we actually produced a blog covering this. We were out socialising recently with friends and the subject came up, why do you prefer Vango camping gear when there are so many other good brands out there...
Well, we will start with a little bit about us, we are Paula and Darren, and we live in the town of Barnsley in South Yorkshire, a place with plenty of surrounding countryside and places to walk. We have two dogs, Dexter and Daisy.
We fell in love with camping over 20 years ago and many things have changed in the camping market in this time, but one thing that has never changed and that’s the quality of Vango Camping products and especially their tents.
You’ll probably be reading this and thinking “well you would say that, you are Brand Ambassadors for this company” well yes you are correct, we are Brand Ambassadors for Vango but there is a really good solid reason for this, and the TWO word answer is simply “Quality and innovation”.
As brand ambassadors we don’t get paid and it was our choice to do this, “why” you ask, well it’s simple, we love what Vango stand for in terms of their support for the environment with such things as the earth collection and they are regular sponsors of key conservation projects, but above all else our key attraction is the quality of products they offer.
The camping products they offer are built to last. And yes, we could quite easily work for and with other camping manufacturers, but we don’t want to.
We are confidently qualified to pass judgment and opinion on Vango Camping kit because we have actually tested these tents, cookers, sleeping bags, lights etc. and we personally know they perform in the great outdoors.
Vango have been manufacturing family camping products since 1966, and they have always been striving to improve their products year after year.
Don’t take our word for it, just look back at the track record of this company, the evidence clearly speaks for itself, Force Ten tents, Airbeam® technology; let’s not forget that this company brought the inflatable tent to the market first and pioneered Airbeam®, this year we’ve seen the launch of Airbeam® SI Pro which uses a single inflation point to inflate the whole tent or Caravan awning - these are truly superb and these kind of innovative creations spark a sense of amazement in us campers and instill the wow factor.
Over the years Vango products have just got better and better in our opinion, we say this with absolute confidence because we have put many of these products to the test out in the field. And yes, every now and again you will get a faulty product just like you’ll get a faulty iPhone or Samsung TV but this camping manufacturer aim to please and they take care of you as a consumer In the unlikely event that something goes wrong.
That’s why when you buy brand new from a retailer you’ll get the three year guarantee on most Vango products, now that’s confidence in their products!
Speaking of build quality, one of the many examples of we have experienced was in 2018, we were camping in the Lake District and we were unfortunate enough to become the victim of a pretty bad storm with winds of 30+ mph and torrential rain, the heavens literally opened on us, and this lasted nearly 12 hours. Our tent was being battered from all angles by the adverse weather. At the time we had a Vango Airbeam® Eclipse 600xl. And as with all Vango tents we had TBS straps (tension band system), which on this occasion we deployed.
The moral to this story is that our Vango Eclipse took the battering from the storm in its stride, and we genuinely mean that. The tent stood firm and kept us safe!
The following morning, we examined the tent thoroughly as you do following a storm of this magnitude and we can honestly say that we did not suffer any damage to our Vango eclipse whatsoever. Looking around the campsite we witnessed some absolute horror stories with other brands of tent and awnings battered, broken and twisted.
Our Vango tent kept us warm and dry and above all safe!

Vango Spares and Repairs is the Vango Aftercare Service, that helps prolong the life of your tent. This equipment repair centre has been repairing everything from seam tapes to sticky zips for over 5 decades. Extending the life of your tent is beneficial to Vango, you and the environment.
Through repairing and recycling, Vango aim to minimise our carbon footprint and the impact we have on the environment.
Any Vango products that cannot be repaired are stripped down and recycled with other usable items and donated to local charities such as Shelter Suit.
The services team specialise in repairing tents, awnings, sleeping bags and rucksacks.
All Vango kit handed into the Service Division is in the hands of a team of experts who have been manufacturing and servicing Vango products for over 30 years. This team inspect and sew by hand, ensuring any issues are completely resolved with great care!
