Motorbike Touring

Our experience was very similar to the previous reviewer. This tent was the perfect compromise of weight and space for bike touring. We also had a little difficulty with keeping the porch dry in very wet weather, the fly at the front of the porch was hard to get taut and there was a gap between it and the groundsheet that let in water, I am considering adding some velcro to close this gap, so concur this would be a design improvement but will also consider an extra peg loop instead. Also it was impossible to keep the porch dry when going in and out during wet weather due to the angle of the door. That being said we really couldn't find anything else in the price range that balanced weight and space so well so would recommend for other bike packers.

2 Cycle tourists

My wife and I used the Vango 300 cycling from Wurzburg, Germany to Venice on the Romantische Strasse and Via Claudia Augusta sleeping in it 20 times. The first time it rained we took in some water onto the vestibule floor but quickly worked out how to keep it dry. A couple of extra Velcro straps to keep the vestibule floor edge up would have been useful. The sleeping area never let in a drop of rainwater. The ability to store our bikes comfortably in the vestibule was fantastic as was the ability to stand up and stay dry. It was a pleasure for 2 people to have all the space of the 3 man tent. It became very easy and quick to erect. We added some extra peg loops to the vestibule to stop the wind blowing the rain onto the vestibule floor. The tent now got a 5 star rating from me. This tent was recommended to us by friends and for us it turned out to be ideal. It was pleasure to sit in the vestibule on our Helinox chairs with a hot drink, knowing all our gear was going to stay dry as the rain pattered down. The insect screens were very useful near Venice as the mosquitos were everywhere. Sharing the weight of 2.3kg each was fine as we like our comfort. I liked the pockets next to the sleeping area where I could store my valuables at night. I liked the spots where we hung our latterns. We never managed to pitch the vestibule perfectly. Before we head out next year we will spend sometime trying to perfect our technique for getting the vestibule square to the sleeping area. I hope you found this review helpful.
