How does a Vango Drive Away Awning attach to my van?

Honestly it's simple!  There are 4 different ways to attach a Vango DriveAway awning to your van, each is easy to do and means you can detach your awning, leave it on your pitch and use your vehicle for the day.

1. Kador Strip

All our Vango driveaway awnings come with a pre-fitted  6mm Kador strip, so if you have a pre-attached 6mm rail on your vehicle, the awning can be slid directly through it, this will create a tight seal to your van.

However, we recommend using a fixing kit (sold separately) to ensure the Kador fits snugly and it provides added flexibility when driving away whilst the Air Awning is still pitched, plus it makes fitting your awning much easier when you return.

The fixing kit is also used to convert the 6mm Kador to a 4mm Kador often used in many wind-out rails.

2. Pole & Clamp kit

A pole & clamp system can be bought separately and is used with a deep gutter on the vehicle. Slide the pole into the sleeve, at the top of the rear section of the AirAway®. Place the pole and fabric into the gutter of the vehicle, and use the clamp to secure at both ends and in the centre.

3. Hook & Loop Tabs

If you have roof bars on your vehicle, you have a really easy way of attachment to your van without any added expense. You can attach the awning to your vehicle through the hook and loop tabs that are pre-sewn in to the top of your DriveAway awning.

The easiest way to do this is to start in the middle and work out this way you will get them in the right place on your van but it will also make pitching easier

4. 8m Webbing straps

If you don't have an attachment point on your vehicle, don't panic as webbing straps can be used! The webbing straps are supplied with the awning and can be clipped into the buckles on the rear of the Air Away roof. The straps can then be passed over the roof of the vehicle and pegged into the ground. It is also important to adjust the straps to fully tension the roof.
