Outdoor Enthusiast Review

The Nanga is the least expensive pack tested but this by no means detracts from the quality, and this is a great pack – tough, comfortable, and emblazoned with useful features. Like most, it has an adjustable back length, though this needs to be set up off the back. And once sorted, I found this harness comfortable enough, without feeling like it was custom made for me. The shoulder straps and hip fins are well-padded and well-shaped and more than capable of big loads and the back system is superb; comfortable and breathable, though I suspect the stays are the reason it sneaks up over the 2kg mark. It has a simple, single main compartment, which can be accessed from the bottom, the front or the top – no danger of not getting to what you need – and I liked the zip access, expandable side pockets, which are ideal for drinks. The lid stays put on this one – no problem for most people most of the time – and it does have a huge pocket that is great for hats and gloves etc. I lament the lack of inner pocket though: always useful for valuables. There’s no pockets on the hip fins here either, but there is a waterproof cover.
