    • Omega shaping - Engineered to position zips and seams in the lower section of the bag. Ergonomically shaped to fit around head and shoulders for improved heat retention

      Outdoor Enthusiast Review

At 1240g, the Venom is one of the heaviest bags tested, and by manufacturer’s ratings alone, it’s actually the warmest – although on warmth alone, I don’t think there’s a lot to choose between this one, the Rab, the Mountain Equipment, the Vaude and the Force Ten. It is certainly well capable of 3-season use, and with ethically-sourced down treated to repel water, it will cope well with typical UK conditions, where water can and does get inside tents. The down, which is 700 fill power, is well spread throughout the bag, and the excellent shoulder baffle really keeps the heat in, even if you decide to slip out of the hood. The hood is effective and warm and easily adjusted too. It’s a bit roomier than the alpine orientated models – great for comfort – but the zip is pretty snaggy, which makes getting in and out a bit of a faff. At similar money and weight to the North Face bag, I’d take the extra warmth of this one any day, but it’s at the heavier end of what I’d carry for 3-season use.
