  • Box wall construction - Down filling is contained in box shaped baffles for maximum loft and to maintain an even distribution of down from head to toe
  • Hydro-barrier down - Premium 90/10 700 fill power duck down stays drier four times longer than untreated down
  • Ethically sourced down - Humanely collected down from birds that have not been subject to any unnecessary harm
  • Polair Ascent – The mini ripstop 30D, 40g/m², nylon fabric is durable and water resistant. This protects the down from the elements giving the bag longevity and full performance.
  • Mesh storage sack - Allows down to loft whilst in storage, increasing the lifespan of sleeping bag
  • Insulated, adjustable shoulder baffle - Retains heat within the sleeping bag
  • 3D hood with multi-cord closure - Structured hood design keeps the head and shoulders warmer during the night. The hood's dual cord thicknesses allow easy adjustment in the dark
  • Arrow Foot - Shaped foot area allowing feet to relax into their natural position
  • 3D insulated zip baffle - Minimises heat loss through the zip. The 3D shape allows the filling to loft and provide insulation
  • Full Length Two-Way Auto-Lock Zip with Zip Guard: Used to seal in warmth or provide ventilation and can be used from inside the bag. Anti-catch piping helps to prevent the zip from snagging on the lining.
  • Internal pocket - Provides convenient storage for small items
  • Omega shaping - Engineered to position zips and seams in the lower section of the bag. Ergonomically shaped to fit around head and shoulders for improved heat retention
  • Roll top dry bag - Expel excess air and roll 3 times for a sealed, water tight bag
  • Temperature ratings independently measured in accordance with EN 13537:2012 - Extensively tested to meet accurate temperature rating standards

Awesome bag

I was camping throughout august for the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
The bag was awesome and kept me warm without issues. Lots of people complaining about the weather/cold but not in my tent !

Price wise it was a fantastic investment comfy/warm/light etc.
Highly recommend

Good except for the bag

I took this on a 3 month trip, from summer to frosty autumn nights, and it performed well. Too warm during the summer, but it came into its own as the weather got colder. It puffs up nicely, and as far as I can tell, doesn't smell.

My only complaint is with the stuff sack:
a) It takes several minutes each morning to cram the rolled-up sleeping bag into it.
b) It is not waterproof as it claims. It was in my pack during a thunderstorm, and the sleeping bag got wet on one side inside the stuff sack.
So I would prefer a stuff sack that was easier to use, and perhaps not bother with waterproofing. There's no point in something that's only semi-waterproof.

A Good Quality, Decent Priced Bag

The Venom range are reasonably priced regarding Down sleeping bags. You certainly get what you pay for. Some positives are: compact-ability, good quality, lightweight. The only downside I could identify is that it could be compressed more if it came with a Compression Sack, not a dry sack.

On test: Vango Venom 400 sleeping bag

I am always in search of a lightweight but warm sleeping bag. I get cold, especially at night while camping or sleeping in the campervan, and so I need a bag to offer good levels of warmth.

At the same time, I don’t want to be lugging around a large, heavy weight bag in my rucksack.

The Vango Venom 400 sleeping bag strikes an excellent balance. It really does pack down into a small size and this feels light at 1kg with the stuffsack. The stuffsack also allows you to make the bag as small as possible when carrying it thanks to the roll down top. This is a useful feature and I wish more stuffsacks were designed like this.

When the sleeping bag is pulled out of the stuff sack it feels immediately big and puffy. The fabric on the outside and inner is light and silky and lovely on the skin.

There is plenty of room in the bag. Sometimes size is sacrificed for weight but not in this case. It’s a mummy shape so it is wider at the shoulder area and narrower at the feet.
